1. What is the difference between high achiever and intensive science programmes?
Similarly, both classes cover school syllabus. Comparatively, high achiever class expose students to more challenging questions while intensive class focus more on fundamental knowledge. The lesson pace of high achiever class is much faster compared to intensive class. Also, worksheets for high achiever class require students to apply the concepts and tackle questions of greater difficulty.
2. Which class should I sign my child up?
Your child’s school performance (e.g. past examination results) will be a good gauge to determine which class he/she should attend. For instance, if your child scores above 70, he/she is encouraged to attend the high achiever class.
3. Will there be an assessment at the beginning of each semester to decide on the class my child should attend?
No, your child’s school’s performance (e.g. past examination results) will be used as a gauge to determine which class he/she should attend. Furthermore, the instructor will consistently monitor the progress of every student. If the instructor feels that your child has difficulty coping in class, you will be informed and advised to transfer your child to a more appropriate class.
4. Will I be informed if my child is not improving in class?
Yes, constant feedback will be given to parents at all times. You may also want to provide relevant information about your child so that we can work together to maximize his/her potential.
5. If I sign my child up for a high achiever class, am I also signing him up for science competitions?
No, science competitions are not included in our science programmes. However, we strongly encourage students to participate in the science competition our centre administers. Science competition such as Rio Tinto Big Science Competition is opened to all students who wish to participate at a nominal fee.
